The classic Gargoyles will be returning as Gargoyles Remastered, with a confirmed release date announced by Disney D23. Up until this point, there were no concrete follow-up updates to the 2022 announcement of the remastered edition. The trailer released by Disney D23 on 7th September 2023 confirmed its release to be set for 19th October of the same year.
Gargoyles Remastered is a gothic 2D platform side-scrolling game with an intriguing plot. The first game titled, Gargoyles was developed for Sega Genesis in 1995. These games are based on the Disney animated series called Gargoyles from the 90s. The remastered version was created by Empty Clip Studios, as opposed to the original.
What’s New
The story follows the player as they play as Goliath, leader of the Gargoyles. Goliath battles against the villainous Eye of Odin, which is similar to the original storyline. The soundtrack and effects are also similar but remastered, to the animated series with more thrill.
The pixelated graphics from the original game have been improved for a smoother and more aesthetically pleasing look. The graphics and controls haven’t changed all that much, in order to preserve the nostalgia while giving gamers a slightly improved experience. Still want to enjoy the game in the authentic version? Well, you can do that by using the in-game feature included and toggle for the best of both worlds.
The game is all set to release on multiple platforms which include PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Series X/S. With just a month left for its release, you won’t have to wait long to get it in your collection.
Until then, check out another platform game with a similar gothic atmosphere, Blasphemous 2. We’re sure you’ll like it.
