The original Tomb Raider trilogy is getting remastered, coming to new-gen consoles

Nintendo Direct live stream was certainly intriguing with game reveals such as Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, SPY X FAMILY: OPERATION MEMORIES, Princess Peach, and many others. Out of these, one of the announcements was for the remastered version of Tomb Raider Trilogy. Developed and published by Aspyr, this is set to release soon.

With the recent announcement, the original Tomb Raider Trilogy is getting an official remodeling. This will bring changes to the original graphics by making it smoother without taking out much of the essence of the original design. Similar to Gargoyles Remastered, this game also features an option for the players to toggle between both old pixelated versions or a smooth graphic upgraded one.

    About Tomb Raider

The first Tomb Raider I was released in 1996. The game was an action-adventure, developed by Core Design and Eidos Interactive. It had simple mechanics usual for games of that time. The story followed an archaeologist named Lara Croft who was sent on a mission of finding an artifact called Scion of Atlantis. Similar to many other action-adventure games, it had a lot of puzzles and enemies through which the player had to go through to reach the goal.

With the success of the first one, the developers later released Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III. Both were based on the first, each with their own objective. Let’s look into the revamped version of these three famous games.

    Additional Chapters

Apart from graphics, players will also get to experience some additional missions and chapters. The Tomb Raider trilogy will include expansions of the following:

    • Unfinished Business for Tomb Raider I
    • The Gold Mask for Tomb Raider II
    • The Lost Artifact for Tomb Raider III

All of these chapters will be in addition to the main three games in this pack.

The Tomb Raider Trilogy remastered will be released on February 14, 2024. The platforms included for its release are PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and of course, Nintendo Switch. If you want to get it as soon as it’s released, you can pre-order it on Steam now.

This year may be possibly a good one for Tomb Raider and Lara Croft fans. There are not one but two surprises for Tomb Raider fans as Call of Duty also plans to add Lara Croft to their roster this year.
