Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with quests to keep the story progressing. But if there is some gap in the story quests, it’ll keep you interested with its side quests like Aid The Underduke. Similar to that, Finish the Masterwork Weapon is a side quest that will give you a rare weapon as its reward. Here’s a detailed guide on how to complete this quest.
Finishing the Masterwork Weapon quest is a side mission, and it starts once a player reads Highcliff’s Journal. This journal can be found in the Blacksmith’s house in the Blighted village, which is at the coordinates of X:30, Y:425. The house is near the barn, and inside you’ll find the journal in a small crevice to the left of the fireplace.
Blueprints for Weapon
After the quest starts, the first item you’ll need to find is the blueprints that will help you create a weapon. To find this blueprint, go to the next room of the same house and burn away the cobwebs covering a hole in the floor. Jump down this hole and everyone on your team will roll Perception Checks.
Once someone succeeds, you’ll find a locked wooden chest on your left by the ladder. Lock-pick it which required DC 10 Sleight of Hand Check. If you have it, you’ll be able to open the chest and get the blueprints needed.
Underdark: Sussur Tree Bark
According to the journal, the second objective you need to complete is finding Sussur Tree Bark. This is the key component that will be later used to make the reward weapon. To find Sassur tree bark, you’ll need to go to the underworld. Underdark is a vast cave system that is located below the Sword Coast with access points in many ways.
There are multiple ways to reach Underdark which can be done through the Defiled Temple, or Feather Fall from the phase spiders’ tunnel, the Portal in Overgrown Tunnel, Goblin Camp, or the lift at Zhentarim Hideout. It depends on the players, from where they are easily access the Underdark.
When in Underdark, you’ll need to actively search for the Sussur Tree on the outskirts of the map. There will be some adversaries around so be ready in case you engage in a battle. Once you spot the Sussur Tree, walk from its branches and roots to its center and then interact with it to get a bark piece.
Forge the Weapon
Lastly, you need to forge the weapon. For this, go to the furnace and set to crafting.
- Start the furnace by interacting with it then make sure the flame is bright by using bellows.
- Combine Sussur Tree Bark with the furnace. This will turn the flames blue.
- Next add a basic weapon in the empty slot like a sickle, dagger, or greatsword, and combine it with the bark.
Rewards
According to what weapon you choose, you’ll get the Sussur version of it in return, which is a rare item. Here are the three rare items you can use for the reward.
- Sussur Dagger
- Sussur Sickle
- Sussur Greatsword
