Cyberpunk 2077 studio, CD PROJEKT suspends games distribution in Russia

The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3, CD PROJEKT, have just officially announced that in the light of the ongoing Ukraine Russia conflict, CD PROJEKT suspends the distribution of all the games both digital and physical in Russia and Belarus until further notice.

The official announcement states, “Today, we begin working with our partners to suspend digital sales and cease physical stock deliveries of CD PROJEKT Group products, as well as all games distributed on the GOG platform, to the territories of Russia and Belarus.”

It was highlighted the CD PROJEKT doesn’t aspire to involve in political matters and is not capable to influence the matters of the state. However, through their action, they want to inspire “global change in the hearts and minds of ordinary people” and to stir the global community to speak up about what’s been happening lately in Europe.

CD PROJEKT also acknowledged the sentiments of the players residing in Russia that have nothing to do with the invasion and conveyed that their actions are important in order to galvanize the people all over the world.

They made it very clear with their statement that “the entire CD PROJEKT Group stands firm with the people of Ukraine.”

All in all, CD PROJEKT has like many others have taken the side of Ukraine, however, just through words but with serious actions as well. Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series, both are very popular among gamers, so halting their distribution in Russia and Belarus is sure to affect the players living there. Though, majorly, only the gaming community of Russia has been influenced by this move. We don’t know how this action of CD PROJEKT will affect the overall situation. Perhaps, other commercial platforms start to cut off Russia and Belarus too after this. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
