Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters Classes Guide

Set in the gothic science fiction backdrop of Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is a reboot of the 1998 game. It is developed by Complex Games and published by Frontier Foundry. The game has received mostly positive reviews from players. The player needs to direct a team of Grey Knights in a fight against the forces of Nurgle. The forces of Nurgle are attempting to unleash a plague on the galaxy called the Bloom. Released on 5th May 2022 the game is only available for Microsoft Windows for now. This article will tell you about the Warhammer: Chaos Gate Classes guide.

Let’s get into the Warhammer: Chaos Gate Classes guide.

    Classes

There are 8 classes of Grey Knights in Chaos Gate. Four will only be unlocked if you will go a little into the campaign. You will start with Justicar, The Interceptor, The Purgator, and The Apothecary. Later on, you can access The Paladin, The Chaplain, The Librarian, and The Purifier. Advanced Classes do not mean that they are better. They just involve different play styles.

    The Justicar

The Justicar is your front-line support class. His abilities mostly include keeping the other knights protected. You can upgrade him to use the Terminator armor which will in turn make him more survivable on the battlefield in exchange for the ability to climb over obstacles. In terms of damage, he can be upgraded to equip a PSYCANNON. You can also invest in REND THE UNCLEAN so that The Justicar is not completely useless on the battlefield. He cannot teleport but he cannot charge into battle instead. If you choose to have a Justicar on your team you should definitely invest in the LEADERSHIP DISCIPLINE. The Justicar can also transfer his armor over and make one knight more powerful. The Justicar is a B-tier of class.

    The Interceptor

    The Interceptor

The Interceptor’s abilities mostly include getting in and dishing out the pain. He does get the ability to equip a PSILENCER weapon but it’s better to ignore this. Teleporting around and causing chaos is what he does best. He has two kinds of teleports, the first lets him choose a spot at 20 range and the teleport strike lets him choose multiple targets to teleport to 15 range. Also, this crazy movement is free. The only dropback of the Interceptor is that he is not as survivable as some of the other classes. The Interceptor is an S-tier class.

    The Purgator

    The Purgator

The Purgator is your ranged DPS option. You can customize him and choose how you want him to function. In terms of abilities focus more on the PSYCANNON, the PSILENCER, or the INCINERATOR. PSYCANNON is a powerful medium-ranged weapon, it can deal large areas of effect damage and can also overwatch. The PSILENCER has more range and can disable targets but it cannot overwatch. Lastly, The INCINERATOR is short-range high damage. The Purgator is an A tier class.

    The Apothecary

    The Apothecary

The apothecary is your support class and this is the only class that can equip the NARTHECIUM. This is a huge needle with a chainsaw that is used to heal knights or damage enemies. In terms of gear, the Apothecary will not support items and willpower. The Apothecary is in the C class tier.

    The Paladin

Paladin can only equip the terminator armor but it is the only class that can access the storm shield item. The storm shield item replaces the ranged weapon with some more tanks and the ability to overwatch an area in Melee. The Paladin combines a mix of support, Melee and psychic abilities. Damage wise you can upgrade to get the PSYCANNON but you will be letting go of your storm shield. Lastly, he gets FURY OF THE ANCIENTS which is like a cone spread attack that does high damage. The Paladin is in the C tier class.

    The Chaplain

The Chaplain is another tanky support class and can only equip the terminator armor. However, it is the only class that can equip the Melee Crozius Arcanum weapon which causes vulnerability on targets. The Chaplain can provoke targets like the Justicar and can transfer willpower to the target like the Paladin. The Chaplain is all about Litany which can only be active one at a time and he is also very dependent on your team. He is in the B-class tier.

    The Librarian

    The Librarian

The librarian is your mage class and he starts with high willpower than the other classes. The librarian has many abilities to make him tanky. He automatically gains an Aegis shield at the end of the round which works well with the ability to transfer armor to targets. He can also focus on the basic range weapon which is the Storm Bolter. The librarian has psychic abilities which include teleporting the entire team. The biggest ability is the vortex of doom as it does a big amount of damage. The librarian falls in the A tier. The reason that it is not in the S tier is that unlike the Interceptor it does not win on its own.

    The Purifier

    The Purifier

The Purifier is more of a DPS class but you can function it to work like a Melee class. The same weapons as The Purgator can be equipped by The Purifier but the greater focus is on the Incinerator flamethrower weapon. The Purifier has abilities that can increase resistance and can also set enemies on fire with the cleansing flame ability. It also is in the A tier.
