Genshin Impact: The Tale-Telling Heart Quest Guide

Last Updated on November 25, 2025 by “Laiba Razi”

The new region, Nod-Krai, brought along with it many interesting puzzles, mechanics, and quests. The Tale-telling Heart is one of these. We’ll guide you through this whole quest, especially the part where you need to collect the Stellafruits, which is rather arduous.

Genshin Impact is an open-world action RPG, developed by HoYoverse, where players explore the vast world of Teyvat, collect characters, build teams, and take on everything from story quests to high-level combat challenges. The game offers fast, reactive combat built around elemental abilities, a huge roster of characters, and an evolving storyline that expands with every major update.

    Quest Starting Location

To start the quest, make your way (or teleport) to the Blue Amber Lake on Lempo Isle. If you teleport to the northern waypoint, the quest will trigger automatically if you take a few steps forward, and a dialogue will start.

    Collecting the Stellafruits

The in-game quest marker will guide you to all the Stellafruits. Don’t worry, they are all located around the lake. Most are inside Rippleweeds and are rather easy to collect once you get the hang of it.

To open the rippleweeds to access the Stellafruits, you’ll need the help of Kuvaahki. You will need to transform into Kuuhenki and use Kuuvahki Dewdrops on the rippleweeds.

You’ll also find two Stellafruits lying near the Sergeant Octopus.

I personally faced difficulty opening two specific Rippleweeds. I have added a guide to open them below.

On the east of the lake, you’ll encounter two stacked bots, radiating with Kuvaahki. Get close to them and collect the Rainbow dewdrop from the lake, and place it on a bot nearby, on the other side. Using the Plant affected by Kuuvahki, you can collect the dewdrop from the bot you placed it on before and use it on the Rippleweed.

The one south of the lake was particularly a pain to obtain. But the key to opening the rippleweed is to get the Rainbow Dewdrop next to the whale as close to the Stellafruit as you can. The closer it is, the easier it is for you to collect it in your Kuuhenki form and use it on the Rippleweed.

Deliver them to the Sergeant Octopus

Once you deliver the first 12 to Sergeant Octopus, a challenge will appear. The challenge is relatively simple; you’ll have to collect Unipolar Crystronite projectiles and shoot them at the Stellafruits. You can collect the ones on the ground using your characters. You’ll have to shoot a total of 99 Stellafruits to complete the challenge.

Once done, you’ll receive one Precious Chest and one Exquisite Chest.

For the second trial, you’ll need to submit 12 more Stellafruits.

In this trial, you have to use your characters to collect 99 Stellafruits. The platforms on the ground will glow three different colours. A light blue platform will give you a small jump, a brighter blue platform will help you jump higher, and the red one will reduce your jumping power. There will also be blue laser beams on the ground, which you will need to avoid as they drain the characters’ HP on contact.

Completing this trial will give you another Precious and Exquisite chest.

    Wake Colonel Iron Whale up

After you’re done with the trials, a cutscene will play, and you’ll have to find the spare parts for Colonel Iron Whale. For this, you’ll have to activate a lift, where you will be guided. The next part of this quest is pretty simple.

You’ll follow Tolfin’s Weasel to find the spare parts, defeating some treasure hoarders on the way. Once you find the lever to the lift, you can activate the lift to enter the workshop below.

Here, just keep following Hoginn until you enter a room where there is an Out-of-Control Sergeant Octopus. Just approach him to deactivate his attacks.

Keep exploring the area, look for the spare parts, and finally make your way out following Hoginns. Now that you can finally wake up Colonel Whale, Aurora will show up.

You will have to ride the Aurora in the Kuuhenki form to obtain the “treasure.”

After completing this part of the quest, the final cutscene will play, and the quest will end. You will obtain the Achievement “When the Aurora Shines.”

That was all for the quest, The Tale-Telling Heart. This quest was rather sad, but it had interestingly incorporated a lot of fun mechanics.

Nod-Krai has been here for a while, and it still fails to disappoint me. The quests are all interesting and fun, and keep me looking forward to what the next patches will bring. The livestream for Genshin Impact Luna 3 just previewed what Nod-Krai still holds in store for us, and players are nothing short of excited.
