Guide to fix Elden Ring connection error

Elden Ring is a unique role-playing game that has taken the internet by storm. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game is made in collaboration with George R. R. Martin. The game is not error-free and just like other games, it has certain bugs. Since the recent update, Elden Ring players have been reporting that they are getting connection errors and then kicked out of the game. Previously, we have also covered Fixing Elden Ring invisible enemies bug. In this guide, we will tell you how to fix the Elden Ring connection error issue.

    What is exactly the issue?

The issue arises when a random person attempts to invite you to their game, thus “summoning” you as the game calls it. This commonly occurs when the player is attempting to defeat a boss and encountering significant difficulty. If you accept their formal request to join their world, you’ll soon see a message that says “Connection Error,” which will prevent you from participating in the main Elden Ring multiplayer experience.

Here is how to fix this issue.

    1. Update your device drivers

It is important that you should have the latest drivers for a video game. Old or faulty drivers can have an effect on your internet connection. If your graphics card is not up to date, your game performance might be heavily impacted and you might get errors. You can update your graphics card manually via the Device Manager. If you want to save time you can update your drivers with Driver Easy.

    2. Configure DNS Settings

DNS cache corruption can result in unpredictable connection problems. If none of the above remedies works, you can try this one and change your DNS settings. There are two options available to you:

    1. Switch to a public DNS server
    2. Flush your DNS

    3. Restart the Game

This problem can be resolved by simply restarting the game. A restart can help you reset Elden Ring’s multiplayer servers and give them a fresh start, regardless of whether you’re playing on a console or a PC. Hundreds of thousands of people are enjoying this action-packed game at the same time, so it’s no surprise that the online slots are quickly filling up. So, quit the game and restart it back again.

    4. Clear Temporary Files (PC Only)

As it goes, several network-related temporary files that your operating system has gathered over time can also cause this type of problem. If this situation applies, you should be able to resolve the issue by going to your Windows installation’s Storage use option and deleting the Temporary Files. Many impacted individuals have attested that this procedure is effective.

    • Press Windows key + E and File Explorer will open.
    • Next, right-click on your Windows Partition from the File Explorer. Now, click on the Properties from the context menu.
    • From inside the Properties screen, click on the General tab at the top and then click on Details.
    • Now, click on Temporary Files from the menu on the right.
    • There will be a Temporary Files sub-menu. Click on Remove Files.
    • Lastly, reboot your PC and launch Elden Ring to see if the issue is fixed.

    5. Check your server settings

When you get a connection issue or can’t log in to the game, the first thing you should do is check the server status. If the server is down for maintenance, you’ll have to wait till it’s finished. Simply visit the official ELDEN RING Twitter page whether an announcement has been made.
