Fixing Call of Duty: Vanguard controller disconnecting issue on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S

Call of Duty: Vanguard is a first-person multiplayer shooter game. It’s the 18th in the installment of the Call of Duty series and a quite successful one at that. Even though many players praised the game’s campaign and multiplayer aspect of it some of them did complain about having controller disconnection issues specifically playing Call of Duty: Vanguard on the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One too sometimes. Xbox has been also facing small bugs related to getting stuck after being updated. We have covered guides on how to resolve these issues and in this guide, we will show you how to fix Call of Duty: Vanguard controller disconnecting issue.

Players have reported that while playing Call of Duty: Vanguard on Xbox the controller disconnects and locks itself while the game stays online. Without the controller, you can’t play the game or even shut it down via the Xbox menu. This recurring glitch has turned out to be very frustrating as some players report it happened to them in every single match.

To fix the problem, follow these recommended solutions.

    1. Clear system cache

We recommend doing a power cycle to clear the system cache. To do that you need to follow these steps:

    1. Turn off your gaming console by pressing the Power button for about 10 seconds until it has shut down completely
    2. Unplug the power cable and wait for 2 minutes
    3. Plug back the gaming console
    4. Press the Power Button to turn it on

Doing this will clear out the system cache. Run Call of Duty: Vanguard on your Xbox to check if it’s all good. If the issue still persists try the next solution.

    2. Factory Data Reset

If the controller still keeps disconnecting, we suggest doing a factory data reset while keeping the games and the apps on your console. This way the console gets removed from all the bugs without losing any game data. To factory data reset the console follow the following steps:

    1. Open the guide by pressing the Xbox button
    2. Go to Profile & System
    3. Open Settings
    4. Navigate to System
    5. Select Console Info.
    6. Click on Reset console
    7. Check Keep Games and Apps

Once the console is reset you’ll need to sign back into your Microsoft account. The issue should resolve itself after this. These solutions should be enough to fix Call of Duty: Vanguard controller disconnecting issue.
