Along with different types of artifacts, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla offers players a chance to acquire Books of Knowledge as well. In this guide, we are going to go over where to find all of the new powers via all the books of knowledge and how to complete all of the light puzzles in each of the areas in Assassins Creed Valhalla.
Before we start with anything it is important to know that the Isle of Skye is one of the most artifact-rich isles in all of Assassins Creed Valhalla. With Treasure Maps and Wealth locations hidden throughout the Isle. Be sure to go collect them when you’re done with the story mode.
Let’s get to the guide now.
Split Shot Number One
First up we have the split shot book number one, you can find it at Svaladal near Tjarnar Mylna on the map. It’s pretty straightforward to find. Once inside the giant cave, it’s not hard to find. Complete the puzzle by directing the beam in one room to the beam in other rooms. The beam will go through the bookcase and open a door to the other side of it. Leave the room and run around to the outside. Dropdown at the end and you’ll see an ice shelf a bit on the right. Part of the ice panel can be shot and broken. Sneak through, then simply follow the path through to the end to claim the book of knowledge, which is the split shot number one. There you go first ability unlocked.
Split Shot Number Two
Next up we are going for a split shot book of knowledge number two. Find the location marked on the map in Vangrinn. This book of knowledge is probably one of the more challenging ones but it’s actually pretty easy. Complete the orbs puzzle. In order to do that you need to hit one orb above the lava pool with your arrows to turn it across from it. Then you need to do is you need to get the jotunheim ability which is the one that allows you to fire arrows teleport
Climb the small rock face and sit on the small wooden pillar that sticks out. You can see through the sort of window in front of you, through the bars, you can just about see the teleportation device so turn on your jotunheim ability and teleport through. Unbar the door by hitting it.
Before heading out pick up the orb on the floor and walk out of the building drop-down with it so you’ll be carrying the orb the whole time. You’re going to put it in the pedestal that is previously missing an orb once that pedestal is in place you simply move the laser because it’s not targeting the door by default so the target the door heading inside and that’s how you claim your next book of power.
Explosive Retreat Number One
Next up we have the first explosive retreat. This is a story location so you will have to progress with the story to get here it’s not very far in. There are two orbs here one is active during the day and one is active during the night the one in the day you open the door for story progress the one at night is how you get the book of knowledge. All you have to do if you want to get this one is to come to this location and make sure it’s nighttime. If it’s not nighttime you can hold down on the directional pad and then select meditate. That will switch to the next cycle so if it’s currently day it makes it a night if it’s currently night it makes a day. All you have to do is simply use your Power of Muspelheim to stand on the lava. Turn the orb so it’s targeting you above the door that will then open the door. Run inside and claim your next book of power.
Explosive Retreat Number Two
The next one is so easy it’s barely a puzzle. This is for explosive retreat number two you can find it all the way down on the map. This one’s very simple, when you first arrive there is an orb sitting on the top of a crate. Here break the crate so the orb falls on the floor. Pick up the orb put it on this pedestal. Come to the back, direct the light through it, it bounces off everything. You just turn the orb around at the end to go to the door. Head inside and you get your book.
Knockback Arrow Number One
The next one is knockback arrow number one. You can find it here on the location you need to head into the Old town and then go through the cliffside entrance. Once you are inside you will see directly opposite to the entrance there is a path. Run through and you’ll see a beam from quite a distance. You first need to make sure that the beam is targeting above the door. Go inside pick up the orb it’s on the fire outside the room. Put the orb on top of the pedestal. Go back out the aim the first pedestal through the door for the one that’s inside the one you’ve just repaired. Then climb through the gap above the door so you can access the interior. After that, all you have to do is aim it at the door to open it and then go inside and claim your book.
Knockback Array Number Two
Next up we have knockback arrow number two. You can find that on the marked location on the map it’s a very easy location to get to. This is probably one of the more complicated ones. There is a very large house there are two separate puzzles here. One is for the armor piece and one is for the book of power. Go to the rear of the building, climb up into the first window. Look up to the ceiling and shoot a panel out. Climb up into the room and turn the orb to face the door behind you. Inside this room on the floor in the corner, you will find the glass orb you need to repair the orb downstairs. Repair the orb downstairs and return the orb upstairs to it’s right position facing outside. Follow the orb’s light outside and hit an arrow to the one outside to change it’s direction. Head outside dropdown. The door will be open now for you to claim your book of power.
Rage Axe Number One
Next up we have the book of rage number one. You can find it at Gullnamar on the map. Before you go in make sure you’ve got the full energy that would be required to use the abilities. So for this one, you will need the jotunheim ability which is the one you get during the tutorial at the start of the game. The pedestal you need to interact with is in lava and even if you can survive the damage as soon as you take damage it will step away from the pedestal so you can’t interact with it. Use the muscle high power aim it where that opens the door and claim your book of knowledge.
Rage Axe Number Two
For the last collectible in the books of knowledge series of Assassins Creed Valhalla, you need to get to the location at Vangrinn. You can use this pedestal to access the door on the left or you can climb through the small window. Inside the room, there is a puzzle with the orbs that you need to solve. Point each of the orbs to the location of the doors to get to a room with a spare orb. Bring it to a pedestal with a broken orb and fix it. Now you need to get the light to come out of the middle pedestal so you can open the door. You use the one on the pedestal you’ve just repaired that fires the beam across into the middle. Come down the door that’s your last book.
